Fin Plate Connection Macro Example Psteel 2022

Fin Plate (Beam – Column)

  1. Pick "Fin Plate" connection icon under "Beam to Column Connections" section.
  2. Pick the column. 
  3. Pick the beam. 
  4. Select stiffener(s) if have and right-click to proceed next step. If there is no stiffener to select, just right-click to proceed next step. 
  5. Select doubler plates if have and right-click to proceed next step. If there is no doubler plate to select, just right-click to proceed next step. 
  6. Select braces if have and right-click to proceed next step. If there is no doubler plate to select, just right-click to proceed next step.
  7. The connection is created.

Fin Plate (Beam – Beam)

  1. Pick "Fin Plate Connection"
  2. Pick the main beam. 
  3. Pick the secondary beam. 
  4. Right-click 3 times. 
  5. The connection will be created.

Notes

  1. Create the most appropriate View first before creating the connection. The same view & orientation will be used to produce the drawings. Click this topic for more details: Creating Views 
  2. Press F9 on the joint to set the point of interest. The view will then rotate about the point of interest.
