Member Replication Manipulation
Program provides some modelling replication/ manipulation for ease of modelling.
Copy/ Move Member
- Select a member (e.g. frame member) or multiple members.
- Right-click and select Copy or Move command.
- Pick the reference point on screen and pick the destination point which the member(s) will be copied or moved.
Copy/Move Special Command
Copy/ Move command requires to pick a Base Point and specifying the Destination Point by snapping to available points on the modelling screen.
Unlike the interactive Copy/Move command, Copy/Move Special provides a dedicated UI for entering relative copy/move distances in global X, Y, and Z axes. In addition, it can specify number of copies to be generated.
- Select member(s) to be copied/moved multiple times.
- Right-click > select Copy Special or Move Special.
- A small window will pop-up for specifying relative translations in Global X, Y, and Z coordinate axes. For copy command, the Count field will be visible for specifying number of copies to be generated with the same relative translations.
Match Properties
"Match Properties" command is introduced to copy the properties from one source element to other target elements.
- Select the source member, right-click > Match Properties.
- On the pop-up window, select the properties you would like to equate and click OK.
- Pick the target member(s) on the screen and press "Enter" on keyboard when you are finished.
Summary of Member Replication/Manipulation Tools
ProtaStructure supports several member replication and manipulation tools for different members. However, not all these tools are applicable to all the members, depending on how complicated the member definition is and how tightly the member is dependent to its adjacent members.
