Stiffened Web Opening Macro Example Psteel 2022
In ProtaSteel, "Stiffened Web Opening Macro" create an opening on the web of the profile. Placing the mouse cursor over the "Stiffened Web Opening Macro" under "Detailing" section in Macro Gallery will reveal the tooltip describing the scope and steps of this macro.
There are 3 different hole type:
- Circular hole,
- Rectangular hole
- Hexagonal hole
Stiffener plates are created around the hole by the macro. Stiffeners are optional plates. Horizontal and vertical plates can be created separately.
Distances between the stiffener and hole can be changed. All geometrical properties can be set if the request.
This macro is allowed for I and U profile types.
Macro presets can be created and macro properties can be saved as company standards. All presets can be changed from the preferences file.

Horizontal and vertical stiffener parameters and welding details can be changed in the "Stiffeners" tab.
How to use it:
- Click the icon

- Select the profile.
- Select the point on the profile.

So, a hole is created to the perpendicular to the point of the profile.
- If there is no point can be selected to create the web opening, create the point before create the opening. Kindly refer to Creating Points
- To create more than one stiffened web opening in a profile, kindly refer to "Multiple Stiffened Web Opening Macro Example".
- Create the most appropriate View first before creating the connection. The same view & orientation will be used to produce the drawings. Click this topic for more details: Creating Views
- Press F9 on the joint to set the point of interest. The view will then rotate about the point of interest
